Since 1976, Derrick Days has been the premier festival event in Navarro County. In fact, 2011 was our biggest year ever, with more than 80 Marketplace vendors, 30 food vendors, 80+ cook-off teams, and crowds estimated in excess of 8,000. Based on a survey conducted on Saturday, we estimate that approximately 1,760 visitors from out of the county spent roughly $281,600 locally in the days surrounding the festival.
The Corsicana Annual Event, aka Derrick Days, is in a growth phase, with the inauguration of year-long fundraising events like a crawfish boil, golf tournament and Oktoberfest. The success of these events will add much needed funds to the committee's operating budget that will allow us to grow Derrick Days even more in the coming years.
Planning for the 2012 festival April 27 & 28 is well underway. We are seeking volunteers for a number of subcommittees and leadership positions.
While in town for the festivities, we invite you to visit Corsicana's wonderful attractions, shop in our charming downtown and eat in our delightful restaurants. Complete visitor information is available here. Additional information about Corsicana and Navarro County is available here.
We invite you to personally invest in the success of Derrick Days 2012, whether it be through a corporate sponsorship or through the giving of your time with one of our volunteer subcommittees. Please join us at our next organizational meeting, held at noon the second Tuesday of each month in the Nancy Roberts Room of the Corsicana Public Library, 100 N. 12th Street in Corsicana.
